Homestead Hurricanes
The 2024 Homestead Hurricanes are about to hit the water! Swim Team starts May 28th. Swimmers between 5 and 16 are encouraged to join in the fun. Use this LINK to access our registration page sponsored by King Marlin Swim Club. Swimmers practice Tuesday-Friday mornings. Practice times are divided up by age group and skill levels between 9am-11am. Practice on 5/28 will be from 9:00-9:45 for all swimmers along with a mandatory meeting for parents/guardians. Waivers will be required to be signed by parents/guardians for non-resident swimmers based on invitation only situations during this meeting as well. Our swimmers will race with other neighborhood teams during the 6 week season. Homestead will typically host one or two meets and attend a meet or two at another neighborhood. Swimmers are grouped by age during these meets and some will be included in relays. Our dedicated coaches work hard with the kids to refine their skills in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. They also focus on building their endurance which pays off in many ways. The Hurricanes have a strong team spirit and a multi-age bond that is amazing! We end each season with our traditional team party and awards. The swimmers also get an opportunity swim at the All City Meet on July 8th. This meet takes place in the competition pool at Mitch Park and includes all King Marlin partnered neighborhood teams. Our coaches have an epic relay showdown and many swimmers get opportunity use formal starting blocks for the first time. Awards for First thru Sixth place are presented based on time and team scores are tallied for team trophies. Homestead came home in 3rd overall in 2023 and have their trophy proudly displayed in the pool office. It’s astonishing to see each swimmer’s growth from start to finish and the rewarding looks on their faces as they excel!
